"En Dos
Musica de Buenos Aires"

Sentimentango

The group En Dos was born with the intent to propose a repertoire of tangos ranging from the origins to nowadays. The oldest tangos originated as a popular dance in the suburbs of Buenos Aires at the end of the nineteenth century; first they were only played and danced and only later the tango cancion started, above all thanks to the voice of Carlos Gardel; that was to be in fashion up to our times. In their show Sentimentango En Dos performs some of these Argentinian tangos as EI Choclo, together with other pieces of composers that were inspired by song. The music goes back to the twenties and thirtieth, and the authors are Julio De Caro, Homero " El barbeta" Manzi, the already cited Gardel, the pieces are Tierra querida, Rosa de Otoño, Mi Buenos Aires querido, Volver, EI día que me quíeras. The last pieces of the performance are some of the most famous works by Astor Pìazzolla (Adiòs Nonino, Balada para mi muerte, Libertango) and by Luis Rizzo (Tristesse, Agosto y final), two authors that have caused a real instrumental revolution. During the show people can listen to the reading of passages by poets and writers who got inspiration from the tango in their novels, stories and poetic collections: Jorge Luis Borges, Pedro Orgambide, Alfonsina Storni, Leopoldo Marechal, Julio Cortázar, Luciano Zuccoli.
